The identification and analysis of the particular habitat needs of a species has always been a central focus of research and applied conservation in both ecology and wildlife biology. Although these two academic communities have developed quite separately over many years, there is now real value in attempting to unify them to allow better communication and awareness by practitioners and students from each discipline. Despite the recent dramatic increase in the types of quantitative methods for conducting habitat analyses, there is no single reference that simultaneously explains and compares all these new techniques. L'habitat groupé, nouvelle manière d'habiter, induit une remise en question de notre mode de vie individualiste dominant. Il sera donc intéressant de voir comment l'architecture évolue en fonction de nos différentes manières de penser notre propre "Habiter". L'architecte, va devoir dans ce genre d'habitat, apprendre à écouter les nouveaux besoins des différents clients qui composent l'habitat groupé. C'est par cette écoute, devenue prépondérante dans le processus de conception, que l'architecture va pouvoir évoluer. Il va donc s'agir de comprendre tous les enjeux pouvant orienter les futurs propriétaires mais également tous les avantages qu'il y a à vivre dans un tel habitat. Pour y arriver, les habitats groupés vont être étudiés et catégorisés en différents types notamment d'après leur implantation. Lorsque l'ensemble de ces enjeux aura clairement été énoncé, ce sont les relations entre ces habitats et leur voisinage qui seront étudiés.
